M_o_R Practitioner is an OGC/APMG accredited 4-day, non-residential course which provides you with a detailed and practical understanding of the Management of Risk approach. The syllabus for both the Foundation and Practitioner optional exams are covered in full.

During the course, we help you to apply the M_o_R framework to the case study used in the Practitioner exam but at whatever is your current level in your organisation. Thus, you will gain practical skills in developing, using and implementing a suitable risk management approach to handle real situations. You will also get a chance to use a number of the tools from the many risk management tools available to you.

Class sizes are kept small to facilitate trainer-student interaction and class discussion.

The course fees include lunch, refreshments, the M_o_R manual and all other course materials.

There are no pre-requisites for delegates to attend the course.

Pre-Course Preparation

As evening work will be required, it is strongly recommended that before attending you undertake pre-course preparation using the M_o_R manual, reading guide, and sample Practitioner exam paperwork. These are provided as part of the course materials and can be sent to you as soon as your payment arrangements have been finalised.

The need for proper preparation cannot be overstated, and work done before the course enhances your chance of success in the Practitioner exam.

Evening work will be required each night of at least two hours, and you should make sure that you are free of commitments for the entire duration of the course.

Examination Details

The optional M_o_R examination is in two parts

M_o_R FOUNDATION is an optional 45-minute, multiple-choice paper consisting of between 35 and 45 questions in which you must get 50% correct in order to pass. The paper is taken on the Thursday afternoon at the end of the training and marked straight away so that you know your mark before leaving the course. The papers are sent to the APM Group for checking and certificates are raised for successful candidates.

M_o_R PRACTITIONER is an optional 3-hour, open-book, case study with two sections. Questions in the first section will cover how to manage risk at all of the levels within an organisation’s management hierarchy. The second section will focus on the application of risk management at specific levels within the management hierarchy. Thus, should you so choose, you will be able to answer questions in this section relating to the level at which you usually work in your organisation. You will be able to select from a range of questions in each section, but will have to answer questions in each section. The paper is taken on the Friday morning, and the papers are all returned to The APM Group for marking, which takes approximately 8 weeks. We will advise you of your result as soon as the information is available. Practitioner certificates are raised for successful candidates, and Foundation certificates are raised for unsuccessful Practitioner candidates to show they have passed at Foundation level.
