Background

In every area of commerce and industry, managers are increasingly finding themselves being required to manage projects, both small and large. Your success as a manager is often measured by your ability to deliver these projects within the performance criteria of time, cost and quality placed upon you.

Projects by their nature, are composed of unique, uncertain and non-repetitive sets of activities; hence they initiate and involve change. Changes in the project environment are inevitable and can happen at any time in the life cycle of a project. Projects and people can be difficult to manage and often cause considerable stress on the project manager and the project team members.

The project is managed more effectively through teamwork as this encourages people to collaborate and work interdependently. Most projects require a diverse mix of individuals who must be integrated into an effective team. You will need specialist skills, a positive attitude and real commitment to shape those individuals into a cohesive, productive and successful unit of a project team.

Prerequisites

No previous experience of project management is required but delegates are assumed to be familiar with the basic principles of project planning and control.
