This course covers the basic approaches and techniques of monitoring and controlling a project, and how they can be used to maximise success.
The aims of this course are to help you learn how to ensure all necessary aspects of how projects are controlled and to ensure that decision-making about project progress and activities is supported by effective information coming from the monitoring system.
 
This course is applicable to all project management methods including PRINCE2.

Introduction

To succeed in project management you not only need to understand the “what?” and “why?” principles, but also to have a portfolio of skills and techniques in the “how?” to do it.

This course assumes a good knowledge of project management principles and concentrates on developing the underlying monitoring and controlling skills and techniques needed to effectively manage a project within a structured environment. This course covers the basic approaches and techniques of how to monitor and control a project, and how this can best be used to maximise success.
 
The aims of this course are to help you learn how to:

♦ Design and implement a monitoring system for a project
♦ Ensure all necessary aspects of project operation are controlled
♦ Ensure that decision-making about project progress and activities is fully supported by
effective information coming from the monitoring system.

♦ Identify suitable monitoring techniques for a project and explain how to implement them
♦ Identify a suitable information flow and reporting process for a project
♦ Create and complete progress and variance reports for a project.
