Course Summary

Managing the information resource

e-business, Intranets, Data Warehousing applications and Multi-media developments all need confidence in the quality of the underlying data resource.

Data Management is the corporate service that assists the provision of these (and 'traditional') information systems by controlling and co-ordinating the definition and usage of reliable and relevant data. The industry standard approach adopted within this course sees Data Management as consisting of a number of vital roles and carrying out a set of critical activities.

Delegates will gain an understanding of the role of Data Management in defining and enforcing necessary procedures and standards in the area of database and application design.

The course provides delegates with the knowledge and skills needed to work effectively in the Data Management function within an IS department and is based on the syllabus for the ISEB Certificate in Data Management Essentials.
