ISEB Certificate in IS Project Management

This unique project management qualification builds on PRINCE2 methodologies but demonstrates an understanding and ability to appropriately apply structured project management methods to IT and IS situations.

Though not called a “diploma” by the ISEB, this is treated as one of the Higher Level Qualifications within their Projects and Business Change portfolio.

Exams

A 3-hour written exam paper and an oral examination (usually lasting about 45 minutes) to be taken by arrangement with the ISEB. These do not form part of the standard training course.

Pre-Requisites

This qualification is aimed at practitioners with previous experience or training in people management, motivation and control. In addition, candidates should have:
• A minimum of four years' experience of management or four years' in Information Systems and have attended an accredited training course leading to the Certificate; OR
• A minimum of three years' experience as a project manager including the use of a recognised methodology. A report should also be submitted detailing the candidate's work experience and practices (direct entry route)

Open University (M865) qualification holders with either of the above can also apply for exemption from the Certificate's written examination, allowing them to proceed directly to the oral examination.

Courses

The usual route to this qualification is either a two week course which includes training in a proven project management methodology (PRINCE2) or a one week course for those who already hold the PRINCE2 Practitioner certificate.
