DSDM Atern

The DSDM (Dynamic systems Development Method) Consortium was founded in 1994 as a not for profit organisation to promote agile project management techniques amongst its (largely IT) members.  The core methods have evolved into a well structured framework of best practice techniques for all project situations which benefit from a flexible approach.

Re-launched in 2007 as DSDM Atern this is the only internationally accredited agile project management method.  It is no longer restricted to those within the DSDM Consortium.  The qualification structure is being developed in conjunction with APM Group (who also accredit PRINCE2, M_o_R and MSP).

There are two levels of certification for DSDM Atern users.

Foundation
The DSDM Atern Foundation Certificate introduces the key concepts and explains to team members how tools and techniques can be applied.

Practitioner
The ISEB collaborates with the Consortium on the certification of DSDM Practitioners, Project Manager, Trainers and Examiners and also awards the certificates for each of these. The Practitioner Certificate can be obtained through either a training or experience route.
