PM Professional

The APM Professional qualification is an opportunity for all Project Managers to benefit by achieving the only qualification that has gained broad acceptance within the UK and international recognition through the International Project Managers Association (IPMA).

The APMP gives those with up to two years experience a fundamental knowledge of what is needed to manage any successful project. It is recognised across the project management industry as the foundation qualification for project professionals and APMP is the qualification that will enable you to demonstrate your fundamental knowledge of what is required to manage a successful project and is the benchmark qualification for anyone embarking on a project management career, or looking to add project management to their portfolio of skills

Course Description

 


This course aims to prepare those who already have a good level of knowledge in project management to pass the APMP (Association for Project Management) examination.

The course material is based on the APM “Body of Knowledge” and attendees will take part in a series of intensive coaching sessions addressing all the main topics covered by the APMP examination in a structured and consistent way. The sessions will include presentations, exercises and sample examination papers.

Typically, attendees will also be provided with a comprehensive set of papers relating to more complex topics. Sufficient time is allowed within the timetable for private study or facilitated revision.

What is Assessed ?

The APMP assesses the candidate’s breadth of knowledge in all areas of project management from the strategic and commercial implications of their role, to the technical, commercial, organisational and people management skills required to successfully participate in a project team.
o You will be expected to take two exam papers:, Paper One - A multiple-choice paper which must be completed in one hour & Paper Two -A two part written essay based examination paper.

• Understand the contribution of improved project planning and control to the project management performance of a company.
• Understand the project estimating and risk analysis aspects of project management and improve their own contribution to the project team performance.
• Understand the factors that can influence the success or failure of a project.
• Specify, estimate and integrate the resource requirements within the programme and schedules on the project.
• Identify the means of providing the resources to implement the project.
• Identify and assess major and minor risk factors that can affect the achievement of objectives for the project.
• Recognise and interpret the agreed objectives for the project.
• Specify and understand the implementation process for systematically monitoring and controlling the identified risks.
• Commence preparation of portfolio evidence and collection of competence.
• Prepare for the APM’s Professional Examination


Prerequisites

Delegates should have practical experience and knowledge in project management.
Candidates will benefit from some prior knowlege and/or experience of non-complex projects. This may well be as a team leader, etc. Ideally, candidates will have achieved the APM Introductory Certificate in Project Management or equivalent.
